Glad to welcome you to Fossall Concepts. We are service providers in number of fields and we feel we can be of help. I specialize in technology and gardening services, my wife Jan is active in accounts and public relations. We both have done many things in our working life. We have acquired experience in many fields of human endeavour. So if we encounter a problem in your life, whether private or business, we will find a way to help you out.
I love to tinker with technology objects like computers, IT security, antivirus technology, hardware, where I spent many long years working in. But I also love the natural things, like gardens and orchards and veggie gardens. Chooks and all other animals you will generally find on a farm. I am at home behind the wheel of most vehicles, including buses and trucks. And I love taking pictures with my camera.
And I love the company of people. Most of us in life have many interests without openly admitting to it. I do. I have changed my profession many times, had many jobs in many countries in my life so far. And I am not intending to stop yet.

Security news.

Before I talk about security, let me say something else. Internet is not private. Anything you express there is in a public domain. Just deleting it from the original source doesn’t make it disappear. It will be accessible in one form or other for as long internet exists. So be mindful what you publish. E-mails or Facebook, Twitter or any other discussion groups. All data is replicated today in the Cloud or on server farms just for backing up reason. Deleting it from one place makes it not go away.
Now to security. Most emails that arrive to you from friends telling you not to break the chain is email harvesting fraud. Forwarding it to your friends is to add more email addresses to the scammers. If you like to forward the email to someone, copy and paste it to Notepad and from Notepad copy and paste to your email application as a new email. This way you will get rid of the tracker.
Harvested emails are used in phishing and other scams. You will get it back eventually in some form or other addressed to you from your known friend. You open it and you are cactus. Cybercrime is today very sophisticated, don’t make mistake about it. Many software engineers find this activity more financially rewarding than plain honest work. They do know what they doing.
Do have Windows Firewall enabled and have preferably another one from commercial reputable organisation. I recommend ESET and Kapersky. Have had experience with the two software companies since the late 1980's / early 1990's and both work well. Nothing provides absolute protection.  Anybody determined enough, will break your security. So don’t have anything on your internet connected computer you cannot afford to lose.

National Fibre Optic Broadband? Waiting still.

NBN started to get momentum, finally. We can see now some Internet providers to bring plans which are affordable and very fast. The actual rollout is still going slow, but the new deal with Telstra could mean we will see NBN at our door sooner. To have 100 megabits connection would be great, but even if we settle for less like 40 megabits, we can still watch internet TV and have Voice over IP connected as well and talking without one interfering with the other. so lets hope the whole business of connecting Australia to the world happens in our life time.

This was the promise

• Generous download plans quota.
• 100 Megabits per second download speed to every household country wide.
• Affordable plans.

So what is the reality today? We have fibre in few places and the intake by clients is not great. One reason is pricing. It is not as affordable as promised. Second problem is the speed of rollout and costs of planning and "experts" involved in the non-productive stage. I am the opinion that if this is contracted to private organisation, we would have had the NBN already. Instead we have government having endless discussions with the opposition playing the usual political games. I am sure if we have elections soon, it would take speed to get votes. But let's stay optimistic that we will get it before it becomes obsolete.
